Form and Function – Part 2

There is nothing I can think of that has to be so tough and still seemingly appear so delicate as the dancers stage costume…

This is where I began my serendipitous journey into the world of design. I love to watch not only the ebbs and flow of the dancers bodies but that of their costume and the silhouette the designer has chosen to create for their character.  They can be the most flamboyant of looks and styles or incredibly subtle and simplistic with muted colours letting the dance do all the talking.  Everything has to be thought out and worked out all the same to withstand hundreds of hours of pounding by the dancers movements.

This is where I relate it to uniform and creating a style alongside performance and durability…
